It serves our needs perfectly despite its size and I love it. It’s a space that feels good to be in. Just for fun I included the before image 😉

I used to babysit for a family who lived in a mode I used to babysit for a family who lived in a modest old home on the North Carolina Coast. Their kitchen always reminded me of something out of a movie set with an old wooden dining table in the center and herbs hanging in front of the window. They also had jars of their every day food items purchased from the local co-op (where we initially met) on their sill. Ever since then I’ve always wanted a place for jars full, beans, flour and everything else. And now I have it 🥰

Long after we’ve completed a project and moved o Long after we’ve completed a project and moved on to others, I often think back to my clients and their spaces and imagine them living out their every day lives in those spaces. It’s almost like I have imaginary memories of them interacting with the house and it brings me so much joy.

A little bit of old and a little bit of new. Our f A little bit of old and a little bit of new. Our family room took me a hot second to put together. It’s a bit of a narrow space and needs to do a lot of heavy lofting for us. The large cabinet in the back was a antique find that I used in my shop in La Jolla to display goods we were selling and it just so happens to fit perfectly in the space we had available in the family room. It brings warmth but also hides a lot of toys! and besides the coffee table usually being covered in a train set or magnet tiles, it otherwise always looks this way.

The sofa is one of the few new things in the space from Interior define, the kind of back bench was a Facebook marketplace find that I had reupholstered and the coffee table I got on Facebook marketplace as well and repainted it. And then I layered a new woven oval jute rug with an antique vintage one. The pillows have gone through many iterations and so have the bookshelves but it’s a space we are constantly cozying up in and it feels good to finally have it complete!

Not every house has enough bathrooms for everyone Not every house has enough bathrooms for everyone to have their own so, in this case, the bathroom that the guest use is also the same bathroom that the kids use. Finding the balance between making it fun and yet still grown-up is the key. My three favorite features in here are the gorgeous hand-painted Tabarco tile, the Ralph Lauren sconces with leather banding and the amazing vintage hand-painted Niagara Falls advertisement I found at a resale shop. You’ll have to swipe to see that one 😉 And check out today’s stories to see the before and after of this space!

So, when designing my home office (ie: @tuffshed ), I incorporated this @soanebritain wallpaper as a kind nod to my idealized greenhouse dreams. 🌱

We slept with the window open last night and I wok We slept with the window open last night and I woke up to the sound of rain. It was so lovely and peaceful. The house was quiet, since everyone else was still asleep, so I read in bed while the strong pitter patter of raindrops chattered in the background. It was heaven.

This narrow upper cabinet in my kitchen is only 4 inches deep on the interior and could’ve been a great spot for spices had we not already had a dedicated drawer. Instead we put up some hooks and hung pans, a cutting board, a strainer and our cheese grater! It’s such a charming little cabinet and I’m delighted every time I open it.

I love my son Shiloh’s room. It’s perfect part I love my son Shiloh’s room. It’s perfect parts playful and cozy. He still loves his toddler bed but his ‘big boy’ bed is ready when he is.

I had fallen in love with a Ralph Lauren plaid duvet that I just couldn’t justify the cost of, at the time, so I found this duvet through IKEA, bought two, and turned one into the drapery. I’m not a big DIY person but it was a labor of love that brings me joy every time I see it.

The bed frame, dresser and crib were all purchased vintage/used. The rug was a purchase from my dear friend (and past employer) Adi at @ajadesign back when my husband and I first moved in together. And the blanket on Shiloh’s toddler bed is a Maasai cloth blanket from a trip to Africa many moons ago.

This room came together with an ease that no other room I’ve ever done has. It’s a cocoon of love and memories.

There are even more gems in this space but I’ll save those for another day 😉
